 The Bulawayo Museum, known as the Zimbabwe Museum of Natural History, is the largest museum in the country. There is a large collection of exhibits from various fields including geology, mammology (the study of animal species), arachnology, entomology, archaeology, and palaeontology. The museum has nine public galleries, lecture halls, eight research departments, and a restaurant. Some of its interesting exhibits include collections showing human development from the Stone Age, the Iron Age, to modern times, Dodo eggs, a large collection of Zimbabwean animals, species of elk - what, snakes, rocks and stones . minerals, and more.

The Natural History Museums of Zimbabwe came into being in 1901 as the Rhodesian Museum. It was renamed the National Museum in 1936, and eventually renamed Natural History of Zimbabwe in 1981. The museum is the largest in the country and is a circular building with four floors surrounding a central courtyard.
